Pre-Filing Credit Counseling Course
Subject to certain limited exceptions, you must complete a credit counseling course and obtain a credit counseling certificate in the 180 days preceding the filing of a bankruptcy case. Our office will not file your bankruptcy case if you have not completed the pre-filing credit counseling, and if you have not provided the credit counseling certificate to our office. Below is a list of the approved credit counseling agencies for each Bankruptcy Court in the state of Louisiana. To find out in what district you reside, please see our Courts page. You can choose from any of the agencies listed for the district in which you reside however, our office recommends either Hummingbird Credit Counseling and Education, Inc., Institute for Financial Literacy, Inc., or Consumer Credit Counseling of Greater New Orleans, Inc.
